Abstract

OSTALLOY 136 is a bismuth-base, low-melting eutectic alloy; it melts at 136 F (57.8 C), hence its identifying number. This alloy finds wide use in industry and in laboratories because of its low melting temperature and controlled-shrinkage characteristics. It can be recovered easily and recycled into new uses any number of times. Among many applications Ostalloy 136 is used for anchoring components for machining and grinding, proof casting in foundries, dental models and fusible elements in safety devices. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, and tensile properties. It also includes information on casting, heat treating, and machining. Filing Code: Bi-28. Producer or source: Arconium Corporation of America, A.J Oster Company.
