Abstract

AISI 5117 is a low-carbon, low-chromium steel for carburizing and other uses. It is recommended for carburizing applications where it is sufficient to have a low-hardenability core of medium strength and toughness combined with a hard, wear-resistant carburized case. It is used without carburizing in the as-rolled, annealed, normalized or quenched-and-tempered condition. It is suitable for use in the automotive, farm-machinery and many other industries. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, joining, and surface treatment. Filing Code: SA-376. Producer or source: Alloy steel mills and foundries.
