Abstract

ALUMINUM 5657 is an aluminum-base, wrought, non-heat-treatable alloy of high purity and bright appearance. It has high resistance to general corrosion and to stress-corrosion cracking. It is used widely in the anodized condition for automotive and appliance trim. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, tensile properties, and shear strength. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: Al-178. Producer or source: Various aluminum companies. Originally published August 1968, revised August 1980.
