ALUMINUM 5254 is an aluminum-magnesium-chromium wrought alloy of the non-heat-treatable type; however, it can be hardened and strengthened by cold working. It is relatively strong and has excellent resistance to general corrosion and stress-corrosion cracking. Its applications include hydrogen peroxide serivce and chemical storage vessels. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, tensile properties, and shear strength as well as fatigue. It also includes information on low and high temperature performance, and corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: Al-157. Producer or source: Various aluminum companies. Originally published August 1966, revised September 1979.
