Abstract
ALUMINUM 5005 is nominally an aluminum-magnesium alloy that cannot be hardened or strengthened by heat treatment; however, it can be hardened by cold working. It has excellent resistance to corrosion, excellent weldability and good brazeability. Its numerous applications include appliances, utensils and architectural components. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, tensile properties, and shear strength. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: Al-38. Producer or source: Various aluminum companies. Originally published April 1956, revised April 1973, revised November 1978.
