Abstract
Copper Alloy No. 838 is a free-cutting copper-base alloy for castings. It was formerly identified as Commercial Red Brass or 83-4-6-7 alloy. It offers an excellent combination of corrosion resistance, machinability, moderate strength and good casting characteristics. Its wide use includes such applications as plumbing goods, ornaments and marine hardware. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties as well as fracture toughness. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as casting, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: Cu-346. Producer or source: Copper alloy foundries.
