Abstract
POTOMAC M is a chromium-molybdenum-vanadium hot-work tool steel developed as a die material for aluminum-base die casting. Its superiority in pressure die casting is due to its excellent mechanical properties at elevated temperatures, its excellent machinability and its freedom from scaling and distortion during heat treatment. Its well-balanced high-temperature mechanical properties make it useful for many other applications. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, and tensile properties as well as fracture toughness.
