HY-80 is a low carbon, nickel, chromium, molybdenum alloy steel exhibiting moderate strength combined with excellent toughness and ductility at all expected service temperatures. It can be readily welded to form tough weldments. It is supplied in the quenched and tempered condition. It is recommended for pressure hulls of submarines and for ordnance equipment. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties as well as fracture toughness. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: SA-197. Producer or source: United States Steel Corporation.
