Abstract
AISI Type 422 is a hardenable 12% chromium stainless steel recommended for applications requiring superior strength to Type 403 stainless steel at elevated temperatures. It retains high strength and exhibits excellent ductility over the temperature range from room to 1200 F. It is recommended for turbine and jet engine components. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties as well as fracture toughness and creep. It also includes information on high temperature performance and corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, joining, and surface treatment. Filing Code: SS-173. Producer or source: Stainless steel mills.
